She is the Golden Girl of the Trampoline Sports: the Georgian born Anna Dogonadze has once more proved that she is an exceptional athlete now under the German flag. At the World Championship in Birmingham this weekend the 38 year old grand dame of trampoline jumping again won a gold-medal, this time in the Synchronized Competition together with her partner Jessica Simon (26). Due to her being tired the day after she only came sixth in the Single Competition, but this guaranteed her the qualification for the Olympic Games in London next year which will be her fourth Olympic Games.
In Athens she got Olympic gold in the singe competition - and she was already once the world-champion in the Synchronized Competition: 13 years ago!
That Anna, who has a full job and who is the mother of a nearly grown-up girl, could repeat this great success is amazing and she herself didn’t think it possible. She was only joking when she said: “Gold would be fine, but we (my partner Jessica and I) also take silver….
But we didn’t believe we were that successful. Simply incredible!”
Her exceptional sportsmanship was honoured by her birthplace Mtskheta, when she was offered the honorary citizenship. She often goes there to visit her parents and her brother.
